It is very unfortunate that at least one out of 8 women is always diagnosed with breast cancer. This calls the need to prevent breast cancer to be proactive and healthy in life. The primary step is to get a genetic test done to check if your immediate relatives have had cancer, male breast cancer and multiple cancers.

Check for any strange changes in your breast with self breast exams. If you can detect any problem earlier it shall help in treating it better and faster. Some of the genetic history cannot be altered but you can do a lot of changes in your lifestyle to prevent the risk of breast cancer. Quit smoking.

There had been a survey in 2002 at an acclaimed medical institute that said higher the women smoke the greater the chances of them developing breast cancer. You also need to reduce alcohol intake as again a research says that a couple of drinks in a day can heighten the chances of breast cancer.
